Our Story
The Beginning
Hunted+Gathered was founded by brothers Charlie and Harry Nissen in Melbourne in 2012. What began as an attempt to make better chocolate for themselves became a pursuit of purity, to understand every stage from bean to bar.
Early Days
They started in a small garage, learning through trial and error, with little more than a spice grinder and curiosity. When they couldn’t find the right equipment, they built their own including a winnower to separate cacao nibs from their shells. The goal wasn’t to build a brand, but to make chocolate that tasted as it should.
The Philosophy
Their approach has remained consistent: keep only what’s necessary. Each bar is made with a short list of organic ingredients, sourced directly from growers who share the same values of transparency and care.
